Five Fab Finds from Around the Web: Holiday Edition!

Hey guys! I hope you’re enjoying the midwinter festivities and finding some time to relax amidst all the chaos. Me? I took a few days off work for my birthday last week, ate my body weight in Italian food and sea salt chocolate,  and even spent some quality time web-surfing. I thought you might enjoy seeing a few of the Very Cool Things I came across during my trip around the World Wide Web…

Claudine Hellmuth Printable Card BoxClaudine Hellmuth’s Darling Printable Gift Card Box
My lovely friend Claudine Hellmuth (The Collage Artist!) has been offering downloadable goodies for a while now, and her latest creation is as timely as it is adorable… and it’s free! It’s a printable gift card holder, which you can easily customize with the recipient’s initial. Print it, cut out out, fold it up, and you’ve got the perfect box for thoughtful little goodies. Be sure to check out Claudine’s ETSY shop to see more of her wonderful holiday printables, too.

The Happy Hands Store Hand Cream for Knitters (and Crafters!)
I have what they used to call “dishpan hands.” I’m a barista by day, so I wash them a zillion times each shift. As a papercrafter, though, I can’t have a layer of greasy, artwork-staining moisturizer gunking things up. Enter the amazing Happy Hands cream. This stuff rocks, you guys! It was formulated by a knitter, Maggie, who understands the need for moisture without goo, and it does exactly what a crafter wants: Leaves my skin like velvet (for real!) and absorbs in a flash. It comes in a ton of fragrances, too. I bought the 8-piece holiday sampler, and I’m working my way through the delicious aromas one at a time. So far, I’ve tried White Tea and Ginger, Mandarin Clove, and Snow Bear (a soft bayberry-ish scent). They’re all gorgeous. Check out all the options at The Happy Hands Store (and let me know which fragrances you choose)!

Nouveau CheapNouveau Cheap: Ooh, La La!
This next one is for all us girls who love the art of makeup. I’ve recently been introduced to a fantastic blog called Nouveau Cheap, “Your Guide to Budget Friendly Cosmetics Since 2009.” It’s run by an absolute powerhouse of a woman who manages to keep track of virtually every sale, gift with purchase, and lightning deal in the world of makeup. Plus, her product reviews are excellent– you’ll see real-life color swatches on un-Photoshopped skin, and learn straight up if an item is worth the price (discount or not). I stalk Nouveau Cheap daily during the gift-giving season, and I’ve found some amazing deals because of it!

Imbibe Magazine Holiday Drink RecipesImbibe Magazine Brings Good Cheer
I’ve long been a fan of Imbibe Magazine, which covers every kind of beverage you’d ever want to toss down the hatch. The publication is awesome, and their website is an absolute goldmine. Take, for instance, this collection of fun holiday drink recipes. If you’re looking to up your eggnog game, you’ll find plenty of ideas here. Or, how ’bout a non-alcoholic Five Spice Fizz? Is coffee your thing (me, too!)? Do it Dulce de Leche style! I’m thinking this beautiful Rose Cocktail is going to be my sipper of choice for Christmas Eve.

Take a Look. It’s in a Book!
Lastly, and just for the heart-warminess of it, here’s all-around-good-guy LeVar Burton reading Clement C. Moore’s beloved ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas. I don’t think it gets much better than this. Grab that cup of eggnog and give yourself a couple minutes of sweetness during this often-frantic time of year.
