Compendium of Curiosities 3, Challenge 4!

Boy, things sure came up roses in that last challenge, you guys! The Curiosity Crew was awed by the gorgeous Faux Tea Roses you created for the CC3C.03, and delighted by the amazing ways you incorporated them into your artwork. Bravo, everyone who participated!

Again, we have a tough challenge ourselves, coming up with a Curiosity Crew’s Choice who will receive a huge batch of awesome products from Tim and Mario. We’ll  announce the winner in a separate blog post on Saturday, June 14, where we’ll also reveal the recipient of the $50 Inspiration Emporium gift certificate…. so remember to check back and see if you’re one of our winners.

For Challenge 4, we’ll be exploring the first of several Layering Stencil techniques– Texture Paste, which is on page 49 of A Compendium of Curiosities, Vol. #3. If you haven’t played with Tim’s stencils yet, it’s high time your treated yourself to these splendidly cool designs. They’re a blast to work with, and you can use them in so many ways!

So, check out the technique, then show us how you put your own unique spin on it! Before you link up, though, please be sure to review the CC3C F.A.Q. for the rules of this challenge. If you have questions that aren’t addressed, leave a comment here and I’ll reply as soon as I’m able to.

Everyone is welcome to enter, but you must work from your personal copy of Tim Holtz’s A Compendium of Curiosities, Vol. 3. We will not be posting technique instructions on our blogs, and our participants must not, either. We require this out of respect and appreciation for all the work that Tim invested in creating this book. If you don’t have a copy, you can order one directly from Tim, who will autograph it for you!

As with each challenge, the team and I will select a “Curiosity Crew’s Choice” winner who will receive a spectacular assortment of Tim’s products, courtesy of Tim himself and Mario Rossi, his business manager (who, like Tim, is one of our favorite people in the world)! To be eligible to win this prize package, you must visit each of the Curiosity Crew members’ blogs and leave a comment there. You can access their blogs by clicking on their project photos, and your comment on this post counts as your comment on my blog.

The Funkie Junkie Boutique

All our even-numbered challenges are sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique, a fantastic online shop that caters to fans of Tim Holtz and his gorgeously grungy style. The Funkie Junkie will award a $25 gift certificate to one lucky, randomly selected participant. All you need to do to be eligible is link your project here, and include a link the www.thefunkiejunkie.com in your blog post.

Here’s what the Curiosity Crew created with the Layering Stencil Texture Paste Technique! I say it every challenge (and probably will, for all the rest of the challenges, too): I have incredibly talented friends!!!
