Compendium of Curiosities Challenge Begins!

Challenge #1: Water Stamping
Sponsored by Eclectic Paperie
Welcome, everyone!!!
Please open your Compendium of Curiosities book to page 35, where you’ll find Tim’s tutorial for his Water Stamping Technique— our first Challenge!
(I’m so excited!)
This is such a simple and quick process, but the results can be incredibly elegant. I love that we can get a bleach-stamped look without subjecting ourselves to chlorine. No burning eyes. Love that!
I’ve posted my own version of a Water-Stamped card above, and here’s something I figured out after remaking it a few times: This technique calls for simplicity. Too many embellishments, and the subtle image gets completely overshadowed. Yes, hard as it was, I had to restrain myself from festooning it with my usual hardware and bling.
The Distress Ink colors I used are Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Fired Brick, Dusty Concord and Faded Jeans. Both stamps— the foliage and the little butterfly— are from Tim’s “Spring Sprung” set.
Speaking of inks and stamps, my friend Daisy, who owns the wonderful online retailer Eclectic Paperie, is offering a 10% discount on any purchase of $20 or more through June 21! Just use the coupon code “studioL3” at checkout.

But wait, there’s more! Daisy didn’t stop there. Check out the fabulous prize package she’ll be sending to one lucky participant in this week’s challenge:

Ooh La La!

To be eligible to win, simply use the Water Stamping Technique to create your own piece of art. Upload it to your blog and link it here using the InLinkz form below. The winner will be selected using the Random Number Generator, and will be announced when I post Challenge #2 next Monday.

(If you don’t have a blog— or even if you do and simply want to be part of one of the best online stamping communities in the world— you can easily upload your image to Split Coast Stampers, and link it from there. Please use the tag SL3CCC so we can all find each other! If you need help with this, just send me an email.)

Please, please, PLEASE be sure I have a way to contact you in case you win! Either leave a comment here with your email address after you link your photo, or make certain that the “Email Me” link is active in your Blogger profile.

Okay, everybody, let’s do it! Have a blast, get your distress on, and show us what you’ve got! The link-in form will be active through next Sunday, so you have plenty of time to play. I truly can’t wait to see the beauty you create!

Thank you so much for participating!
~♥~ Linda

Please remember, I won’t be offering instructions for the techniques on my blog, and I respectfully ask that you don’t, either. Tim worked very hard to create his book, and let’s honor him by encouraging people to purchase their own copy of The Compendium of Curiosities. We all know, they’ll be glad they did!

Oh, almost forgot! Here’s a Compendium Challenge badge.
You’re more than welcome to display it on your blog. Thanks!
